I just had the best lunch I've ever had. Ever. I was scrolling through Grub Hub at work as I didn't feel like running out today. I came across Mash Potatoes and remembered I had ordered mash and sweet mash for Thanksgiving a couple years ago and they were a hit. For lunch, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich w/ a side of sun-dried tomatoes & goat mac and cheese. One bite of that sandwich and I swear I had an out of body experience. I'm Cuban, so I consider myself an expert when it comes to Lechon. And that, was seriously the best Lechon I've ever had. The flavor was out of this world. Whatever my co-worker was telling me at the moment completely turned into a haze as I focused solely on this sandwich. The mac & cheese is as delicious as it sounds. Goat cheese. Sun-dried Tomatoes. I'm a goat cheese fanatic so it was the perfect side to my sandwich. The best part of the mac & cheese is me getting full and thinking about leftovers later. Needless to say, I will be ordering from them more often.

I'm so happy I discovered this gem on Yelp! I wandered in during week two of a booze-less family vacation and at that point I was very tired and very grumpy. My dad, who is really picky, walked in and walked out and ended up getting pizza which he later regretted. My sister and I decided to give it a chance. The chef is super talkative and nice. My sister and I went straight for a Paleo option Churassco and then shared a side of the truffle and pancetta mac and cheese....not paleo. Whatevs. The food was fresh and delicious. The meat was cooked medium and was tender and juicy and came with a side of chimichurri sauce and the mac and cheese...if you end up getting it I hope you have a friend to share it with because the truffle oil makes it weigh a thousand tons in your stomach. It was maybe almost too cheesy for my liking. Is that such a thing?! Don't take my word for it though. The mac and cheese is a must try if you venture into Mash Potatoes. If my sister ends up going to UMiami you best believe I will be back here!

Chef Scott is great !! This is the cutest must go little spot! The restaurant is called Mash potatoes but believe me they have more than potatoes to blow your mind! scott has a large selection of homemade healthy foods that are freshly made for you and delivered to your table by his very nice staff. DONT FORGET DESSERT ! the desserts here are my favorite thing EVER! scotts homemade desserts will have you coming back for more!

Wow! Loved this spot! The service was fab and food was top notch! Make sure to check out the daily specials. I asked the chef which dessert to get and he asked me how much time and room I had left because I would want them all :) Really enjoyed the chocolate mousse. For dinner I tried the curry dish and also the shrimp and grits....yummy! Easy to park and seating inside is tight but reminded me of eating abroad.

They burned the bun into something that look more like a piece of charcoal then a hamburger bun. Its absolutely pure carbon on the bottom and even on the side. Whoever cooked this spread the sauce on the bun so they had to see how burned this was however they simple did not care which is upsetting. You may try to rationalize it by saying maybe the guy who made this was blind and could not see how bad it was or maybe he was unable to smell the burned bread but I know its just incompetent and lack of caring. Come on guys, if you can't get even the bread right, how can you trust the more complicated dishes. I will never eat there again and I posted the photos of the meal I received. Very disappointing considering other people have giving this place decent reviews. Makes me think that maybe they were false reviews. The owner need to institute a little quality control and fire whoever burned this bun and found this acceptable to serve to a customer.

Good but honestly the old menu was better. They used to cut the Brussel sprouts and they had a sort of roasted thing going on but now it seems they boil them whole :-(. Also tried a chicken with some kind of orange colored sauce and it was just OK.

Horrible service, I ordered a sandwich with the rest of my party's order and they completely forgot to make it. I really don't care if the food is good or not. They could care less they messed up my order and just put me back in the que. Any place they shows such disrespect for their customers should not be in business and it will catch up to them soon. Probably will still be waiting for my sandwich when you read this review, and my son got his hair done at nice place net door during wait.

Functional place for a quick, tasty and healthy bite. Do not go here expecting a full service restaurant with waiters hovering or trendy decor- if you do expect that you will be disappointed. This is basically a catering company that opened a storefront for lunch in the front of it's kitchen. The day we arrived it was chilly in there - maybe a function of the normal response to the Miami heat and humidity - it felt like 65 deg F in there. You order at the counter and they bring you your food after it is freshly prepared. They have a nice selection of fresh roasted vegetables as side dishes - no fried stuff. Mac and cheese was full of creamy butter and served piping hot with a crispy top of cheddar. The mahi mahi over quinoa special of the day was a HUGE portion even by Midwestern standards for that price - they should charge more for that much or reduce the portion size a tad! The fish reuben with Mahi Mahi was very tasty with a crispy bread that was not at all greasy - snob chefs would cringe at the site of cheese with fish! Try it for lunch or take home food, you can pre-order and pick up on your way home.

Bobotie was so light and delicious, packed full of flavor. We splurged on our calories and got the cauliflower bake but I don't think it was as bad for us as it was good in its taste. Yummy!!

Just ate here about 2 mins ago and I am in love. I came here for lunch with my husband as we work quite close to one another. He ordered the Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes (which I just had to try... and boy am I glad I did because it was probably the best I have ever had!) and I had the Peri Peri Chicken Sandwich which had a bit of a spicy kick that I just loved. Both items were amazing. I was already impressed with the place but when the chef came out to greet us and see how we enjoyed our meal, it sealed the deal. I will definitely be back!

  • Tu M.

Went for lunch and had the meat loaf with spiced sweet potato mashed. My friend ordered the Peri Peri chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. You can taste the freshness, it's was THAT good. I'll definitely be coming back to try Mac and Cheese (which our neighbor table had and looked bomba fantastico) Side note: the chef and staff were friendly and accommodating.

Hidden gem! I had the Tuna Salad and it was really fresh and it was nice how they snuck some tiny potatoes in there too. The people were very friendly and all the food came with diff types of potatoes, really interesting. They have a cool menu that can be catered to anyone (nuts, gluten, vegan w.e you get it). I'm so glad we discovered this place! It sucks they close so early 7:30pm ( and closed on Sundays) but whatever I'm def going back.

Walk in, place my order, get my drink and sit down at the counter. Right Brain: Yummy! Celery! Healthy! Left Brain: Dude, it's celery SODA. Bad for you. Right Brain: Nope, I taste celery. It's good good good. Left Brain: Look, high fructose corn syrup. EVIL! Right Brain: Just shut up and eat already. ......... Left Brain: Yum. Right Brain: Agree. Yum. Left Brain: This pork chop is so delicious! Tender and juicy. Right Brain: Love the roasted garlic mashed potato. The miso one is a tag too sweet for me. Left Brain: Try the stuffed tomato. Is healthy for you. Right Brain: Not bad. But I like the truffle mac & cheese. Left Brain: Some dishes are under-salted though. Kinda like Whole Foods up the street. Maybe the Coral Gables people hates salt. Right Brain: Hey we are just trying to be healthy!

Ordered lunch for my team today based on other reviews. The grilled salmon sandwich is meant to include avocado and salad on the sandwich. No avocado and a piece of tomato as the salad (insert confused face here). Peri peri chicken sandwich also supposedly includes avocado but was hiding in my order. Half Peri peri chicken lacked flavor and definitely didn't have any peri peri (um it's supposed to be spicy?!?), either the spicy dip or the salsa was missing but what sauce was included was runny and flavorless. Babotie was missing the savory custard sauce topping and overall really bland. (I'm South African so I know what peri peri and babotie are all about) and it's actually overpriced as well. $60 for lunch which included two sandwiches, a piece of chicken and some ground beef? Seriously could have made babotie for half of the Cape flats for that.

My review is on the food. I have not had a chance to eat at the restaurant so I can't really comment on the service or the atmosphere. I hope to update this review soon. I ordered Mash Potatoes for lunch last week. My interest was piqued while looking for a lunch spot with a healthy(ier) menu and I saw all the great Yelp reviews. I ordered roasted chicken, brown rice and brussel sprouts. It was absolutely delicious! The chicken was tender and had a lot of flavor. The brussel sprouts came a with a sauce that enhanced it's already yummy flavor. I picked it up and the man at the register, who I think is the owner, was pleasant and cheerful. I'm excited to try out other dishes at the restaurant.

I recently moved to South Miami and coming from Coral Gables where I had so many options at walking distance, I was looking for places to try. I looked at Yelp ratings and decided to try it and sooo glad I did! The Salmon was delicious and the pull pork!!!! Nice flavor, clean meat, my daughters (who are the true definition of picky) devour it immediately and asked for more! The chocolate dessert was good but too intense for my taste, the key lime pie was perfect. Another review said they had no tables, the do now, the place is small but was clean and neat, the owner was very courteous. I will definitely go back to try some other items in the menu.

This local spot in the Coral Gables / South Miami area is a hidden gem that is generating great word-of-mouth buzz for take-out. I first sampled some of their healthy offerings when Chef Scott visited The Bar Method studio nearby. The samples were SO delicious. I tried the Quinoa and Asparagus Stuffed Tomato with Goat Cheese, the Salmon (seared) and the Miso Mash. After I finished I couldn't decide whether to say, "Divine" or "Delicious". The tomato stuffed with nature's complete protein and topped with soft goat cheese was divine indeed. The mashed potatoes were perfectly smooth and, of course, delicous. I'm looking forward to trying some more items from their menu. Some other quick facts: - There are four daily lunch specials from which you can choose and they're available from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. - The chicken and the pork served have no antibiotics or hormones. You can choose from meatloaf to baby back ribs to salmon, just to name s few. - Vegetarians can also find something to please their palette. You can choose from a vegetable lasagna, eggplant parmesan with whole wheat pasta, or curry lentils with brown rice. - Healthy sides are on the menu as well. You can choose from roasted red beets, grilled zuchinni, bbq baked beans and more! - Finally, the namesake for this restaurant offers five variations of the much loved mashed potatoes: classic style, loaded, roasted garlic, miso and sweet potato. Support quality local businesses like Mash Potatoes. If you're in the area, then stop by for lunch or skip cooking for the night and grab some dinner. I definitely will.

We had the pleasure of eating at this restauraunt on 9/9/14. The garlic bread w truffle oil was great, mac and cheese w chorizo was great, salmon (seared) was awesome. Meat loaf w sauce was very good. Sweet potato mash was awesome too. All that was a grand total of 36 dollars, which is great considering the gourmet quality of the food. Reminds me of a restaurant from a food network chef. Chef scott hand delivers some of the appetizers and meals which was cool. Paper plates and plastic forks and knives were low key, the place I can describe as a casual dining environment w gourmet level food. Highly recommended

The owner Scott is super cool and friendly as is the staff there. You can't go wrong with pretty much anything on their menu. I love their salads and the homemade dressings. My husband loves the brisket. Their mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are too die for. They now serve breakfast too, need to go there for that! This place is a gem and adds something new and fresh to the area that was much needed.

Needed a quick lunch for my children. We decided to try something new. Mash Potatoes was new to us. We enjoyed our chicken quesadillas with a side of mashed white potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, and brussels sprouts. All were hits with my children. I do not want to tell you what I ate....I'm afraid it will not be there when I return...but you are my fellow "yelpers" and I have to share that I had the best grouper reuben sandwich!! It was tasty, moist and filling. I am looking forward to returning to Mash Potatoes for a second helping of grouper reuben and to try other items on their menu. One of my children requested a take home menu - that means we are returning! Service is nice and knowledgeable. I appreciated her patience with helping the children make their selections. Quality counts! ENJOY Note: Currently there is limited seating, but I understand they have plans to expand.

Loved x 1000! Quaint little spot hidden behind the madness that is US1. Went for lunch on a Saturday with my hubs and kid and we were the only ones there. While we ate we saw many people come and go with takeout orders so perhaps that is the bulk of their business. The chef himself took our order at the counter, explained the menu, and chatted with us through our meal. The food was fantastic - home cooked, healthy, fresh food full of flavor. We had grilled mahi, herb crusted snapper (out of this world) and of course - mashed potatoes which were amazing. Creamy, tasty, hearty - it's like a big bear hug in a bowl. We took a key lime pie home and loved it. Their menu is extensive and offers your typical comfort foods - meatloaf, chicken, fish, sandwiches. This is the perfect spot to stop for a guilt-free, delicious lunch. Also great for takeout if you rather feed your family a home cooked meal vs processed fast "food." We'll be back!

So happy we found Mash Potato via YELP! We are always looking for healthy, good quality food, at decent prices, with quick and easy service and Mash potato delivered on all. It is a great place for a quick healthy meal. don't expect a nice restaurant when you go. Well, when we went they told us they were in the process of remodeling and we're planning and getting more tables. We sat at a high top bar area and it was fine for us because we were on the way home from the beach and just wanted good healthy and quick. My husband and I shared the meatloaf, ribs, sweet mash and Brussel sprouts. We loved all the dishes. The food was similar to my home cooking, which was pleasant for us. The service was great. Mariel and the chef were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely eat there again when i am in the area.

The best best best turkey sandwich ever! It's made with real turkey, the bread is perfect size and that chipotle sauce gives it the perfect kick.:))))

Despite the name, food is fresh and healthy. I'm vegan and and there were lots of options to choose from. I had the Quinoa with 3 side vegetables. Fantastic!!! I highly recommend this place. It loos like a hole in the wall in a strip mall, but don't worry. It's super clean and relatively new. The atmosphere is a quick diner type. You order at the counter. Not a fancy venue. Many people came in to carry out.

I hate to give this place a bad review, because the man behind the counter there (chef? I don't know; he had a big personality) was hilarious and really made me WANT to like this place, along with all the great Yelp reviews. That said, the main courses I received when I came here were truly just awful. The mashed potatoes and the macaroni were okay (not bad, but not good either... especially for a place CALLED "Mash Potatoes"), but the chicken and the meat loaf were absolutely the WORST chicken and meat loaf I have ever had the extreme displeasure of tasting in my life. The chicken was not only flavorless, but was also only slightly more tender than a piece of rubber. It didn't even taste like food. It was so bizarre that I made everyone else who was with me try it ("Is this supposed to be chicken?"). The meat loaf had the same gross consistency, only all chopped up and grainy and with a truly gross sauce on it that I cannot identify. When we left after barely touching our food, the nice man behind the corner asked "You didn't like it?" and it was incredibly awkward. We booked it out of there and will absolutely never return. I truly wish I liked this place. I feel a little dishonest giving it more than one star actually, but the service was good and the side dishes were okay, so there's my justification. It boggles my mind that some of the worst food I have ever tasted in my life came from a place with such great Yelp reviews. Very bizarre. Maybe it was just a bad day for them?

I always walked by Mash Potatoes and was curious as to what they had.... decided to try it and it instantly became my favorite place!!! I can never decide what to get because everything is delicious and the prices and quality are unbeatable. Everything on the menu is delicious and the owner/chef, Scott, is always offering tastes/samples of the food. I HIGHLY recommend Mash Potatoes, it has options for everyone at very affordable prices!

Ammmmmmazing! Every time we come, the owner and chef are super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they really care about their customers. The menu has something for everyone! The food is delicious every single time. Today, I had the meatloaf with a side of grilled eggplant and roasted beets. The juiciest meatloaf ever! It has a little spicy kick to it too :) their Mac and cheese is amazing as well! Their stuffed tomato is the bomb. Basically, you can be guaranteed good delicious amazinglyyyyyy yummy food every time!

Went here last night for dinner. I can not say enough positive things about the food and prices! I had the steak with chimmichurri. loaded mashed potatoes, and roasted sprouts. All of it was delicious! I especially loved the chimmichurri sauce - it was made with fresh herbs and spices versus dried which always makes a huge difference. It is definitely more a lunch/take out place than eating it. But I enjoyed eating there nonetheless. It is BYOB so we brought our own wine and enjoyed the yummy food. Both of my guests loved their entrees too. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Probably one of my favorite places to eat in Coral Gables. Really convenient for students and has a student discount with ID. The food tastes home-cooked, and the service is great. Scott has done a really great job with the place, and his food is wonderful!

Discovered this little gem on a random Saturday afternoon. We were trying to find a quick place to eat with the kids. Note this place is small with only a counter to sit at, so we decided to take out and go to the park across the street. We were very impressed by the chef/owner and price point of the dishes. For $24 we got two main courses, a stuffed tomato and a side of Mac n Cheese. Not bad for Miami. You can tell that all the ingredients are high quality. Very fresh and well cooked. That being said everything needed a bit of salt. I would say all of our dishes were under seasoned which is why I only gave them 4 stars. We will definitely be back!

I think I may have found my favorite local restaurant for a quick stop for food near UM's campus. We walked into the restaurant at 7:25pm (5min before closing) and Scott, the owner and chef, greeted us like it was 1pm in the afternoon cheerfully! He allowed us to sample some of the food he had available and was impressed on his knowledge and love for the food. We ordered some side dishes (cheap!) and they were great! Good size portions and a great price. Specials change out regularly too. 10% discount for UM students too! No seating, this place is meant more for "grab and eat somewhere else" folks. We took it to the park next door and ate it there. Will definitely come back again and again!

I don't think someone will ever find a better deal for lunch/dinner in miami. Scott is a distinguished chef offering a unique concept of really, really, really good food. At the best prices. It is worth coming once, twice a week, perhaps even daily. He always offers tasty specials. And he's got options for paleo, vegan and vegetarian.

  • Jonathan P.

Not as good as the reviews that got me to try it. But still good. Mac and cheese of the day (marinara) not so flavorful. Mac and cheese with bacon was much better. My eggplant parm came out at room temp. And the eggplant was cold inside. Sent it back. Was hot when it returned. Tasted pretty good. Real ingredients. Such a different taste when they r. The chef/owner offered us a desert for the mishap. Nice move. Should have had some mash potatoes since that's the name on the door. Next time.

  • Luis B.

Food wasn't bad but what I ordered was cold. The chef let us try some food before ordering which I though was cool. I am sure the food can be delicious but I was not pleased with the cold pulled pork and the lukewarm chili.

Simply put the absolute best option for a healthy daily lunch. We eat the special almost on a daily basis but there are several good finds in the menu. Tons of veggies grilled to perfection, killer soups (never w cream) and whatever the protein you chose it will be cooked to perfection and last but not least the friendliest service and chef Scot kicks ass!

This restaurant was wonderful! The food is bargain priced but definitely has 5 star flavour! Plenty of options were available for every type of diet and very appropriate portion sizes are offered. Chef Scott was a jovial and playful host during our time spent at Mash Potatoes. He offered me a taste of some awesome mashed potatoes while I waited for my meal. Overall, I had a fabulous experience and a scrumptious meal. I will be going back!

Vegetable soup was really tasty but way too salty. I actually couldn't finish it even after adding a cup of water. Will return to try some other stuff, give it another shot. Was nice inside, clean, modern, quiet, and friendly staff.

They seem to run out of food as the night continues...how can you call yourself mash potatoes when you run out of ALL of the options of mash potatoes. I really want to love this place and I just caught it at the wrong time or perhaps at the end of the day their stock decreases. We ordered at the store and brought the food home. While we were there, a lot of people came by and just picked up their meals and left. Also, the man working the counter seemed to know every customer, which is great! The food was sooooo delicious and the price was ok given the quality of food. I will definitely return to get my mash potatoes!

This is s true gem among tons of option in the area. The food is outstanding and oddly enough it's affordable! The prices are reasonable food is great. As the mother of three young boys I've had my fill of grilled chicken sandwiches and "unique" burgers, but here I get salmon with a side salad, Brussels sprouts (amazing) and Brie and blue cheese Mac and cheese seared ahi tuna I could go on and and on....just try it and you'll be hooked!

Mash Potatoes is hidden in a little strip mall, but worth the search. We came for lunch and were greeted nicely by the staff and they gave us samples of their soups and variety of mashed potatoes to try. Everything tasted very good. I ordered an amazing churrasco with chimichurri sauce and miso mashed potatoes. My friend ordered a vegetarian entry which was a stuffed tomato with quinoa and cheese. Both were really good. The price was less than $12 for the steak and a drink which you can't beat. The salads looked very good also. I honestly wanted to try most of their entrees. You should be aware that there is no real tables to sit on, but there is a counter bench to sit on. Highly recommended for a quick lunch or a to-go meal.

So happy I found this place. Delicious heartfelt recipes concocted by a truly talented and personable chef. I highly recommend the baked tomato stuffed with quinoa and topped with goat cheese. It is incredible.

Very very good! had a quick lunch because I do my hair next door. I ordered the grilled chicken with the grilled asparagus-amazing! The chicken was full of flavor. A friend of mine ordered the hickory smoked salmon with the Brussel sprouts...that salmon was just right-delicious! The Brussel sprouts were great without be over sauced like most Brussel sprouts are that I have had. All in all a great lunch! Can't wait to go back and pick up some dinner soon for me and my hubby :)

  • Helen W.

I don't like quinoa, lentils, or raw onions; but, somehow, Chef Scott is able to combine all these and make it so delicious that I crave it! An excellent place to grab lunch on the go or sit at the counter by yourself or with a friend for a quick, healthy, warm lunch. Chef Scott is very indulgent with his customers, I highly recommend him for catering as well!

All jokes aside, I enjoyed this little hole in the wall restaurant. It's close to Sunset Place and surely a grub hub for UM students. The restaurant itself is incredibly small and can seat maybe 4-5 people at a bar facing the parking lot (not very scenic). However, the chef makes his rounds like clockwork and cracks a joke a or two while mingling with his customers. The ordering process is sort of awkward as the ordering counter is very "in your face" the moment you step in. Again, this is quite the small little joint for your mashed potato fix. I tried the quinoa filled tomato that is featured on he heir main website. Honestly speaking, it wasn't the delectable delicacy I was expecting. The goat cheese was of low quality and the tomato was stale. I found it lackluster that my dish was simply taken out of a display cooler. My girlfriend ordered the meatloaf which was absolutely incredible! A must try! As far as the mashed potatoes were concerned, we split a classic mash and found it to be decent. Maybe next time we'll try a more exciting mash. On a final note, be prepared to wait for your food. Although the setup may seem like a fast food/quick fix/on-the-go type of place, it simply is not. It took around 20 minutes for the meatloaf to be prepared. With that being said, my girlfriend was happy which inevitably made me happy. A cute spot for a casual date.

I absolutely love this place! Get treated like family and the food is second to NONE. I've never had a single thing I didn't love, and my mouth waters just thinking about it! i follow them on Instagram so I get to see the daily specials every day - awesome!

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Miami. Everything I have eaten has been amazing. The meatloaf, mac and cheese, sandwiches, vegetables, salmon fillet, and of course the mashed potatoes are all amazing. The employees are also very friendly, I cant recommend this place enough!!!!!!!!! It's a little small though so it would be hard to eat there with a big group.

Who said that vegetarian food should be tasteless or boring... What an amazing discovery... We had a party and we bought food from them and it was a hit.... I am glad that I found this geme of Coral Gables....

  • Lauren D.

The mashed potatoes are truly fabulous. Also the curried brown rice was delicious - flavorful but not overpowering. Have had the meatloaf (yummy, tender, light and not heavy), brussels sprouts (nicely buttery) and the grilled chicken (moist and very nice with the barbeque sauce especially). Really reasonably priced and the portions are true as marketed (the veggies serve 2). Chef Scott is awesome!
